1. Who we are

IllumiNYti is a location-based team game played at live, in-person events. This policy explains what information we collect through the IllumiNYti Transmitter mobile app and our website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it.

This policy is provided by Interactive Reality Labs, LLC ("we", "us", "our"). If you have any question about it, email hello@interactiverealitylabs.com.

2. The short version

  • We collect your precise location while you are playing, because physically arriving at real places is how the game works. Collection extends to background location with permission.
  • We collect the photos and videos you choose to submit for missions. They are private to your own team and the event organizer, never a public feed.
  • We collect your email, name, and codename when you register for an event.
  • We use all of it to run the game and talk to you about it. We don't sell it, we don't advertise, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • You can ask us to delete everything at any time, by email.

3. What we collect

3.1 Registration information

When you register for an event, we collect your email address, your real name, and the codename you choose to play under. Inside the app you are shown to teammates by codename.

3.2 Precise location

While you are playing an active episode, the app reads your device's precise location in order to:

  • verify that your team has physically arrived at a real-world game location before unlocking the next stage of the story; and
  • check that teammates have not become separated from one another by more than roughly 100 feet.

Location is read approximately every 15 seconds while an episode is in progress.

The app requests background-location permission on both platforms. We stop reading your location when the episode ends or you leave the app.

Location is used for gameplay and for diagnosing gameplay problems. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with third parties for their own purposes.

3.3 Photos and videos you submit

Missions ask your team to submit a photo or video as proof of completion. If you choose to submit one, it is uploaded to our storage provider.

Submitted media is visible only to: you, the members of your own pre-formed team, and the event organizer. There is no public feed, no discovery, no search, no user profiles, and no way for anyone outside your team to browse or find your submissions. You can hide your team's submissions from within the app.

3.4 Device identifier and gameplay diagnostics

The app generates a random identifier the first time you run it and stores it on your device. We use it, together with your app version, your device platform, and your team and episode, to record gameplay events — for example an episode starting, a puzzle being solved, or a location being reached — so that we can diagnose problems and improve the game.

This identifier is created by us and is not an advertising identifier. It is not shared with advertisers or data brokers, and it is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

3.5 Push notifications

If you turn on notifications, your device is issued a push token by Apple or Google. We store that token on our servers so that the event organizer can send you a message during an episode. The token identifies your device to the notification service only — it is not an advertising identifier, it is never used to track you, and you can revoke it at any time by turning off notifications for IllumiNYti in your device settings.

3.6 What we do not collect

We do not collect advertising identifiers, contacts, health data, financial data, browsing history, or search history. We do not serve ads, and we do not embed third-party advertising or analytics tracking SDKs.

Because we do not track you across other companies' apps and websites, the app does not display an App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS.

4. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • run the game — verify arrivals, keep teams together, track progress, and show submissions to your team;
  • send you the link that connects your device to your team;
  • send you gameplay communications, such as registration confirmation, mission start, day-of reminders, and a post-game recap;
  • diagnose faults, fix bugs, and improve the game; and
  • protect the safety of players and the integrity of the game.

5. Legal bases (for players in the EEA and UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:

  • Contract — to run the event you registered for and provide the game.
  • Consent — for precise location and for camera or photo access. You grant these through your device's permission prompts and can withdraw them at any time in your device settings. Withdrawing location permission will prevent the game from functioning, since arriving at real places is the core mechanic.
  • Legitimate interests — for diagnostics, security, and improving the game, balanced against your rights.

6. Who we share it with

Your information is used only to run the game and communicate with you about it. We store it securely and we do not sell, rent, or share it with third parties for their own marketing. The only outside services that touch your data are the providers that deliver our communications (for example, our email provider), and they handle it only to deliver messages on our behalf.

7. Security

We transmit all data over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), store it with reputable providers, and restrict access to submitted media so that it is reachable only by your own team and the event organizer. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the sensitivity of what we hold.

8. How long we keep it

We keep gameplay data and submitted media for the duration of the event and for up to 12 months afterwards, so that organizers and players can review and share results. Registration records are kept while your account is active. Diagnostic records are kept for 12 months.

We delete data sooner if you ask us to.

9. Your rights and choices

Anyone, anywhere. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information — including your registration record and any photos or videos you submitted — by emailing hello@interactiverealitylabs.com. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.

Device-level controls. You can revoke location, camera, photo, and notification permissions at any time in your device settings.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not process it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We will not charge you or degrade your experience for exercising any of these rights.

10. Children

IllumiNYti is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email hello@interactiverealitylabs.com and we will delete it.

11. Third-party links

Our app and website may link to sites we do not operate. This policy does not cover those sites, and we are not responsible for their practices.

12. International transfers

We are based in the United States and our service providers process data in the United States. If you play from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed there, under appropriate safeguards where required by law.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will notify registered players by email.

14. Contact

Questions, requests, or complaints about this policy or your data: hello@interactiverealitylabs.com.
